Why codes matter at new casinos
A new casino has no player base, so it pays for attention with small free offers: 10 to 50 free spins or a few dollars of bonus money, unlocked with a code. The code tells the casino which campaign brought you in, which is why the same casino can run several codes at once with different terms.
For a player in Canada the code is also a cheap test. You register, verify your account and see how the casino handles a small withdrawal before you deposit anything. Offshore bonuses are not available in Ontario, where only casinos registered with the AGCO may operate.
1. The casino's own emails and social accounts
Opt in to promotional emails when you register and follow the casino's official accounts. Launch campaigns often appear there first, and they are the only source where a code cannot be out of date or fake.
- Use a separate email address for casino accounts so offers do not get lost.
- Check the account handle against the link in the casino's footer; copycat accounts post fake codes.
- Never send your password or card details to anyone who messages you with a code.
2. Review sites that track new casinos
Sites that follow new launches, including ours, list current offers next to each casino's licence, payments and terms. Our no deposit bonus page and bonus codes page show the offers as the casinos state them for Canada.
Check the date on any code you find on a review site. Codes expire quickly, and a code that worked last month may now give a smaller offer or none.
3. Player forums
Forums and community threads are useful for one thing the casino will not tell you: whether players got paid. Read reports of withdrawals at a casino before you chase its code.
Treat codes posted by strangers with care. Some are referral codes that earn the poster money, and some lead to unlicensed copies of real brands.
4. Bonus aggregators
Aggregator sites and apps collect offers from many casinos and let you filter by country. They save time, but they copy offers from other sources and often show expired or region-locked codes. Confirm every code on the casino's own site before you register.
What a code is worth
| Offer | Stake per spin or bonus | Wagering | Typical cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 free spins | $0.10 a spin, $2 in total | 35x on winnings | $50 |
| 50 free spins | $0.20 a spin, $10 in total | 40x on winnings | $100 |
| $10 bonus money | $10 | 50x | $100 |
Take 20 spins at $0.10. At a 96% RTP they return about $1.92 on average. With 35x wagering on that $1.92 you bet about $67 more, which costs around $2.70 at the same RTP, so on average nothing is left to cash out. The value is in the rare session that runs well, and the cap limits even that.
